The bed at Donard Shadow Lodge was like sleeping on a cloud. The memory foam pillows provided excellent comfort, although I would have liked the option for standard pillows. The stand-alone bath was very nice and the privacy screen added a thoughtful touch. The hotel itself was beautifully styled and exuded warmth, making me instantly feel at home. The kitchen was well-equipped with every utensil I could need. The location at the foot of the Mournes was perfect, with a short stroll taking me to the center of Newcastle with its selection of restaurants and bars. I had a perfect stay and would highly recommend this hotel.

My partner and I had a wonderful stay at a beautiful log cabin in an excellent location. We loved everything about it, from the stunning views to the cozy interior. the hosts were very accommodating and left us to enjoy our stay, but were always available if we needed them. We were pleasantly surprised by the well-equipped lodge and the thoughtful provisions such as bread, milk, and breakfast cereals. We can't wait to come back and would highly recommend this place to others. Cons: Everything was fantastic! 😄.

Loved the cozy and comfortable atmosphere of the lodge. the interior and open planned layout were first class. - Enjoyed the complimentary bread, milk, tea, coffee, and breakfast cereals. - the log burning fire was a lovely touch and added to the ambiance. - the cabin was exceptionally clean and had all the necessary facilities. - the location was great, close to local amenities. - Appreciated the sweets, crisps, and milk left for us on arrival. - had a peaceful and relaxing stay and would highly recommend.
The water heater took a few hours to heat up the water tank for a bath, so planning ahead is necessary. For those who plan to spend more time indoors, the lack of live television could make the time feel long.

We had a wonderful time at this cozy lodge. The location allowed us to easily explore the nearby town with its great restaurants and coffee shops. The lodge itself was clean and well-equipped, with a comfortable bed and a luxurious bath. The owners even provided some basic breakfast items, which was a nice touch. The interior layout was open and inviting, and the log burning fire added to the cozy atmosphere.
One small downside was the time it took for the water heater to heat up the tank for a bath, but with some planning, this was easily avoidable.

Perfection at the foot of the Mournes! Everything was just perfect, from start to finish. Luxury at its best! the hosts were amazing and the property was delightful. the location was key, just a short stroll away from the center where there were plenty of restaurants and bars. And the best part? the cabin had everything we needed for a perfect stay. Plus, the bed was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in!
This property may not be ideal for those planning to spend most of their time indoors. Unfortunately, there was no live television available, which made the time indoors a little long.
